The Federation of Credit and Financial Professionals resulted from the
joining of two groups: The New York Credit and Financial Management Association and the
NACM Mid-Atlantic (both founded in 1896). In the intervening 100-plus years, in order to
remain relevant to the changing needs of the tens of thousands of dedicated professionals
they have faithfully served, both Associations have strived to preserve the time-honored
focus on education and professional development.
With the merger of these organizations in 2006, the FCFP now presents to their membership a
variety of opportunities and programs that neither association could separately.
Benefits of Membership
Membership to the FCFP provides more than just a resume boost - it also
supplies the following tools that a credit professional needs to advance their ability and career.
CONTINUING EDUCATION: The FCFP annually prepares an educational calendar that provides
membership with ample opportunities to expand their skill base, continually increasing the
diversity of our industry specific workshops, in addition to the needed Credit Administration
Program classes for members to earn their NACM designations on their own set timeline.
NETWORKING EVENTS: The FCFP also schedules networking events throughout the regions it
serves, so that all members will have opportunities to see old friends and meet new ones.
These events are beneficial to every professional in the commercial credit industry to share
thoughts as well as investigate possible career opportunities.
TRADE GROUP BENEFITS: A large portion of our membership also belong to trade groups
that share a common customer base, and usually the same debtor list. With shared information,
members are able to discuss actions that result in faster payment and forming solid credit policies.
DUAL MEMBERSHIP: Joining the FCFP automatically enrolls you as a member of the National
Association of Credit Management. Members may take advantage of the education sessions and
teleconferences hosted by NACM, in addition to earning nationally accredited designations for credit professionals.
PUBLICATIONS: Members receive subscriptions to Business Credit, the official publication
of the NACM, and the Journal of Trading Partner Practices, the official news source of the FCFP, as well as periodic electronic alerts.
PREFERRED BUYER STATUS FOR SERVICES FROM BERNARD SANDS: These services include commercial
collection and credit reporting; more information can be found at www.bernardsands.com.
PREFERRED BUYER STATUS FOR SERVICES FROM SMYTH SOLUTIONS: These services include staffing and
AR management; more information can be found at www.smyyth.com.
ACCESS TO INDUSTRY MANAGEMENT BRIEFS AND OTHER RESEARCH: The FCFP receives offers from
association sponsors (i.e. Euler Hermes ACI) to give our membership complimentary access to their
publications on international economy and economic forecasting.
