Neiman Marcus Group said Tuesday it will close 10 of its 37 off-price Last Call stores, a move to focus and steer more resources to its main business of running high-end department stores.

The 241 employees whose jobs are removed will be able to apply for other jobs in the company, it said.

"This decision is about optimizing our Last Call store portfolio to deliver the best customer service and freeing up resources to support new initiatives for our full-line Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman channels," said Elizabeth Allison, senior vice president of Last Call.

Off-price retailers, which sell brand apparel and household items for less than full-price department stores, have been generally fairing better than most other retail sectors. But competition for Last Call has been stiff. Marshalls and T.J. Maxx, two of the industry leaders, have more locations and run typically larger stores. And Amazon is starting to pay more attention to apparel and shoes.

In trimming the number of stores, the company is hoping to differentiate Last Call in the off-price sector "by giving customers access to a larger amount of merchandise sourced from the company’s full-line channels," including Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman stores, it said.

In July, the Dallas-based company telegraphed the move, saying it was evaluating the Last Call business "to ensure it had the right mix of brick-and-mortar stores and online presence."

In the most recent quarter completed, Neiman Marcus Group reported a 4.9% drop in revenue to $1.1 billion.

The stores that are closing are:

*Philadelphia Premium in Pottstown, Penn.

*Potomac Mills in Woodbridge, Va.

*Arizona Mills, Tempe, Ariz.

*Gurnee Mills, Gurnee, Ill.

*Livermore Premium, Livermore, Calif.

*Arundel Mills, Hanover, Md.

*Philadelphia Mills, Philadelphia

*Great Lakes Crossing – Auburn Hills, Mich.

*Lenox Marketplace, Atlanta
